About Marcia Santore
I’m Marcia Santore, writer and ghostwriter, editor, artist, and owner of Amalgamated Story. I provide comprehensive writing and editing services to national and international clientele, addressing a wide range of topics; I work primarily with nonfiction and have a special interest in education, psychology and social sciences, business, and the fine arts, but I welcome all topics.
WRITING & GHOSTWRITING
Writing has always been something I’m good at, something that comes easily and fluidly to me. I like to tell stories about people and the interesting things they do. I also like to learn how to do things and then explain them in a way general readers can understand. Most of my writing is nonfiction and includes profiles, prescriptive nonfiction (how to books), and ghostwriting for publishers, packagers, and independent authors. I also write a little fiction of my own, but that's a different story.
I provide developmental editing, line editing, and copy editing to clients in a wide variety of fields, from academic publishers to independent authors of fiction and nonfiction. My job as an editor is to represent the reader and help authors speak to their readers accurately, authentically, in their own unique voice. I'm proficient in the APA Publications Manual 7e and Chicago Manual of Style 17e, as well as good at learning in-house style books for employers and clients (I've even written a few).
I’m also a visual artist with a BFA from the University of Texas. I exhibit and sell my paintings, which are held in public and private collections in the U.S. and abroad. (Curious? Check out my other website at www.marciasantore.com) My fine art background led to an interest in illustration and graphic design, which are other services I offer here at Amalgamated Story.
BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER
So, can one person do all these different things well? Can a writer edit? Can an editor design? Can an artist write? Yes! In fact, that’s what Amalgamated Story is all about -- bringing together all the different elements of a project (a book, a website, any kind of online or offline content) and making them function together as a unit.
Please feel free to explore the different services and portfolios on this site, and use the Contact page to tell me more about yourself and your project. If you'd like to see my resumé or a list of projects relevant to yours, just ask.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
